Los Angeles

During the summer, my boyfriend and I went to Los Angeles for two weeks. It was an amazing trip, one that I’d love to do again. Here’s an insight into our trip.

We stayed at The Mondrian in West Hollywood and then spent the second half of our trip in Santa Monica where we stayed at The Viceroy – Both amazing hotels.

Where We Ate in Hollywood

Ivory on Sunset – located at The Mondrian, perfect for an alfresco lunch or cocktails. – $$

Craig’s – The Hollywood celebrity hot spot. American Italian, amazing food – a must go to! – $$$

The Ranch – Casual restaurant with a bucking bronco in the middle. Food was amazing with large portions. – $$

The Polo Lounge – Located at the beverly hills hotel, this is one brunch you should definitely book. Amazing food and atmosphere. – $$$

The Cheesecake Factory – we went here more than once, but it’s just so good. Be sure to save yourself for dessert! – $$

Sur & Villa Blanca– I’m a huge fan of The Real housewives of Beverly Hills, so we visited Lisa Vanderpumps restaurants, both great locations however not so great in the food department – a real disappointment. – $$

Mastros’ Steakhouse – Great food, and an extremely buzzing restaurant however our meal was rushed and our waiters were very rude, this was a very expensive restaurant. $$$

Mels Drive-in Diner – The place to go for a great traditional American breakfast. $$

The Ivy – Known as a celebrity hot spot with great food. We went for lunch, I had a lovely meal however it is very pricey and all the tables are very much on top of each other and they do like you in and out as quick as possible. $$$

Where We Ate In Santa Monica

Steak n Shake – One of the best burgers we had, a fast food joint which is very understated for just how good the food was! $$

Joan’s on Third – The best breakfast place ever! You must visit a Joans’ whilst in LA. The french toast and buttermilk pancakes were to die for! $$

The Herringbone – A fish restaurant, located a 1 minute walk from our hotel. Amazing food and service. $$$

The Independence – A casual gastro pub with quirky decor, one of our best meals. They also do a brunch which looked good – a must go! $$

Shutters on the beach – A luxury hotel on the beach, the food at One Pico was unbelievable along with great service. $$$

Lemonade – A salad bar with a twist. A great selection of food to make your own meal. and 4 different flavours of lemonade (hence the name) a great lunch pit stop. $$

What I Wore

Los Angeles is very casual, it was always very chilly in the evenings, so I would recommend taking jackets or cardigans to keep warm. I mostly wore denim shorts and t-shirts if we were going out in the day.

I did dress up in the evening, however restaurants were always full of a mix of dressy and casual people, here are a few day time and evening snaps!
